Georgina Sparks Role Cast - And It Isn’t Mischa Barton

Looks like Serena will have trouble in upcoming episodes involving Georgina Sparks, who will arrive fresh from rehab. Sweet! Just kidding…I love Serena, but actually I’m glad she’s going to have some issues to deal with so it won’t only be Blair with problems. The new character will be played by Michelle Trachtenberg who I only know from gossip magazines.

Georgia Sparks will be a key player in the May sweeps storyline - sounds like fun! This is the role that Mischa Barton was offered. Guess she was too busy:

Actress Mischa Barton has denied reports she’s joined the cast of the CW’s “Gossip Girl,” insisting she turned down the chance to do so.

Barton, best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” claims she declined an offer to star as an old friend of Blake Lively’s character Serena Van Der Woodsen on the show.

A spokesperson for Barton says, “She will not be on the show. She was approached, but her reps passed.”
