Great Gossip Girl Episode 2 recap

“We Upper East Siders don’t do lazy. Breakfast is brunch and it comes with champagne, a dress code, and a hundred of our closest friends…and enemies.”

It’s the morning after the night before. GG tell us that Bart Bass, Chuck’s dad, is hosting a brunch for his foundation at the Palace. Everyone who is anyone is invited, which obviously leaves out the Humphreys. Over in Brooklyn, Dan and Jenny seem to have survived the evening relatively unscathed (meaning, in Jenny’s case, with her virginity — and her hunger for a spot in the ‘in-crowd’ — still intact) though Dan apparently left his dignity in a cross-town cab. Jenny’s downright peppy as she razzes Dan about the geeky wave he gave Serena as the cab dropped her off.

And this is what I mean by funny….

Blair’s mom left a note saying, “Went to Paris. Brunch at 2. Wear pearls.” Brunch at 2? Brunch around here means IHOP during Heathen Hour (11 am on a Sunday). And down south, any meal that starts after noon is called “dinner.”
