Gossip Girl - Gossip Girl, Season 1 - Woman on the Verge

Georgina has been calling Serena every day, leaving her messages and wanting to get together. Serena has been ignoring her.

Rufus and Dan talk about Rufus’s gig, Dan tells Rufus about trouble with Serena. Dan says he knows Serena is hiding something. Rufus is like, “You can be judgmental” and maybe he should try to let Serena know she can just be herself.

Nate & Vanessa make a date to go to see Rufus’s band play. Nate gets a phone call that seems serious.

Lily is being interviewed by Rolling Stone about how she took some great photos of Rufus and his band back in the day, and she gets uncomfortable when the interviewer pries into her personal life, feelings about Rufus, etc.

Chuck and Dan are talking outside the palace when Chuck gets a call, and says “No, Serena didn’t come home last night. I thought she was with you…” while Dan overhears.

Chuck and Nate head up to Blair’s apartment. They’re not talking, but they’re both on a mission to help Serena so they act civil.

“Sarah” (Georgina) bumps into Dan outside the palace. She’s trying to surprise Serena with coffee and gets busted by Dan, who is wondering what she’s doing at the palace. Georgina says she has a friend staying there.

Dan gets a call from Serena’s phone, but it’s not Serena. It’s a bartender, saying this blonde was here last night and left her phone, skipped out on the check, and was with some guys. Dan isn’t happy!

Blair, Nate, and Chuck are trying to help Serena at Blair’s place. Serena is a total (more after the jump) wreck, completely hung over and out of it. Blair explains to the guys that Serena had come over late the night before and they were talking (when Serena said “I killed someone”) but when Blair left the room for a minute Serena was gone. Blair went out looking for her and it took her all night to finally find her. They start getting her food, coffee, etc. to help her hangover.

Rufus and Vanessa talk about Dan and Serena. he’s worried about them, but V says it’s probably just because of “Sarah”, once Serena gets to know her they’ll all be fine. (Whatever!)

Dan looks for Serena at the palace but she’s not there; Lily says try Blair’s. He shows up at Blair’s and B tells him Serena isn’t there. Nate backs up her story, but Dan doesn’t buy it. Finally Blair says “I didn’t want to have to tell you this, but she doesn’t want to see you” but Dan still thinks something’s up. Blair doesn’t want Dan to know how messed up Serena was. Serena comes downstairs (cleaned up and in a robe) to talk to Dan. Dan confronts her about the things the bartender said; he asks her if she slept with someone. She says “yes” and Dan’s like, “I’m done” and he leaves!!!

“Sarah” calls Dan as he’s leaving Blair’s, he sounds upset and she says come meet me in the park and we’ll talk about it.

Blair’s maid Darota calls Lily, secretly. She tells Lily Serena is “like she was before” (all messed up!) and Lily says “Thank you Darota I’ll take care of it.” Lily goes back to the palace and looks through Serena’s things.

Serena tells Chuck, Nate, and Blair that she remembers last night and that she knows she didn’t sleep with someone, but she’d rather have Dan think that than know the truth. They convince her to tell them what she’s been hiding.

Serena starts her story…she’s like you know Georgina Sparks (Chuck says “the bitch is a psycho”)…something happened the night of the Shepherd wedding and Georgina’s been blackmailing her. After Serena and Nate hooked up at the wedding, Serena left feeling really guilty. She had plans to meet Georgina so she went, feeling horrible about what just happened with Nate. Georgina had a little surprise waiting for her…

As Serena tells the story, we see Lily watching the tape she found in Serena’s drawer. She sees Georgina and some guy setting up the video camera. Serena shows up, she’s feeling guilty and not in the mood to party, but drugs and alcohol are in full swing and eventually the guy starts kissing her, undressing her, etc. (Lily stops watching.)

Serena’s still telling the story to B, C, and N. So she starts making out with the guy, named Pete, but she stops and says they should do some lines. They both do cocaine and suddenly the guy starts convulsing. Serena gets scared and immediately starts calling 911 but Georgina convinces her that she should hang up and they should just get out of there. Serena does call 911, reports the location, etc. and then she leaves. She waits across the street to make sure the paramedics helped him, but when they came out of the building with a dead body she was devastated. She convinced her mom to send her to boarding school and left without saying goodbye to anyone.

So Serena explains that Georgina has been blackmailing her with the tape, calling herself Sarah and hanging out with Dan, etc. Serena doesn’t want Dan to know anything about the tape, she says it’s practically a snuff film.

Serena tells B, C, and N everything that happened, and how Georgina doesn’t like the fact that S has left her wild days behind her.

Later, at the palace…Blair, Serena and Chuck are at Lily and Bart’s rehearsal dinner. Lily lays into Serena about how she knows she’s up to her old ways, Lily is mad! Lily tells her that reform school is her only option at this point.

At the Rufus gig…Dan and “Sarah” are there, and someone looks at Sarah and starts calling “Georgina! Georgina!” but she plays it off like the person must have her confused with someone else.

Back at the palace…Blair finds out what Lily just said to Serena. Blair rudely interrupts a conversation Lily is having (go Blair!) and tells Lily, “You have no idea what your daughter has been going through” and that what she saw on the video is only part of the story. Blair says “I’m out of my league here” and convinces Lily that she really needs to help Serena.

Nate is on the phone with Vanessa and he tells her about Sarah/Georgina. Then Nate calls Blair and tells her that he knows where Georgina is right now, in case she’s interested.

Lily tells Bart she has to leave the rehearsal dinner because of something with Serena. He wants to help, but she says it’s just between her and Serena.

Still at the dinner, Blair goes up to Chuck and says, “What if I told you I know where Georgina Sparks is right now?”

Chuck says: “I’d say let’s get the bitch.” (Sweet!!!) Blair smiles…and they leave.

Lily takes Serena to meet the parents of the boy who died (Pete) so Serena can get past it and stop blaming herself. She finds out that his parents had tried to get him off drugs for 10 years and that they didn’t hold her responsible.

Lisa Loeb is hosting at Rufus’s 90’s bands gig. Vanessa confronts Georgina about the fake name thing; Georgina denies it and walks away. Dan sees her crying in a corner (oh please!!!) and she tells him the reason why she’s been using the name Sarah. She tells him she had a crazy stalker ex-boyfriend who she was afraid of, she thought he might hurt her, so she moved away and started using a new name. Dan buys the story. Georgina tells Dan she’s falling for him and they decide to go somewhere quiet to talk.

Nate, chuck, and Blair show up at the gig to find Georgina. Lily and Serena show up to look for Dan. Serena wants to confess everything to Dan.

Lily watches Rufus singing, he spots her and sings the rest of his song to her. It’s a love song. Lily walks out, and when the song is over Rufus chases after her. She says get out of my way, he says no. They kiss.

Serena, Blair, and Chuck are still looking around for Georgina and Dan.

Serena gets a call from Dan’s phone, but it isn’t Dan. It’s Georgina of course. G tells S, “I heard you told out little secret” and says all bets are off. Serena tells her she’s not scared of her anymore, but Georgina isn’t finished yet. G says, “It’s not what I’m gonna do, but who I’m gonna do it with!” and hangs up. G secretly takes the battery out of Dan’s cell phone. They kiss…then we see them walking down the street holding hands. (Bad ending!)

What do you think? Can you believe Dan could be so gullible? What about Chuck, Nate, and Blair putting aside their issues to help Serena, wasn’t that great?
